The young astronomers of ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½, represented by our curious K3 students, embarked on an awe-inspiring journey to the planetarium. Here, they delved into the mysteries of the cosmos, immersing themselves in a captivating exploration of space. This remarkable visit not only ignited their imaginations but also deepened their understanding of our language arts theme.
Immersed in a world of wonder, ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ students were captivated by mesmerizing narratives and stunning visuals that illuminated the secrets of the planets and the moon. Their curiosity soared as they explored the vast expanse of the universe, each discovery fueling their thirst for knowledge and exploration.
Following this stellar experience, our journey continued into the depths of the science museum building, where ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ students encountered a treasure trove of inventions and artifacts from the prehistoric era. From ancient tools to fossilized remains, they marveled at the ingenuity and creativity of our ancestors, gaining insights into the evolution of human civilization.
But the adventure didn’t end there! Venturing into another section of the museum, ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ students were greeted by the fascinating world of bugs, where they discovered the diversity and complexity of insect life. From delicate butterflies to industrious ants, each creature captured their imagination and set the stage for our upcoming theme exploration.
As we reflect on our enriching field trip to the planetarium and science museum, we, the students of ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½, are reminded of the boundless curiosity and wonder that defines childhood. It is through experiences like these that we not only learn about the world around us but also develop a sense of awe and appreciation for the marvels of the universe.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the planetarium staff for providing us with such a captivating and educational experience. Their dedication to inspiring young minds is truly commendable and has left a lasting impression on us, the students of ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½.
As we return from our cosmic adventure, we look forward to delving deeper into our upcoming theme exploration, armed with newfound knowledge, curiosity, and excitement. The journey continues, and the possibilities are endless as we explore the wonders of the world together.
Here’s to many more adventures and discoveries ahead!

After a few years of limited or virtual celebrations, the Wells community was very excited to amplify our school spirit and celebrate the first of many holiday events, Halloween! Our teachers, staff, students and parents were involved in making this year’s Halloween a very special and spirited event for our school community to enjoy. Each campus celebrated in various ways and some cross-campus collaborations took place as well. See what Halloween looked like at each of our Thailand campuses:

BANG NA

??Wells Bang Na students were thrilled to have parents join them for the big Halloween celebration! The PTO generously offered their time and talents to the creation of a haunted house, goody bags, tattoo station and much, much more! The group Zumba dance launched our celebration and was led by one of our Grade 1 Mom’s. It was a big hit for all the kids and helped us kick off the event in style! At Wells Chonburi, our teachers and staff had been working as a team for over a month to ensure that the school was decorated as spooky as possible for the Halloween festivities, from the doors to the bulletin boards to the photo backdrop. On Halloween Day, parents could participate in the Halloween selfie booth when dropping their children off in the morning. A fashion show was hosted to give students an opportunity to show off their creative costumes, and prizes were given to the students with the most creative, scariest and best overall costumes. This was followed by a dance party, and a rotation of booths with various Halloween themed activities for students to enjoy, including arts & crafts, a haunted house, and a scary story reading tent. Finally, at the end of the day students came together to watch a Halloween movie and enjoy some popcorn together. Watch .?

As the country¡¯s education systems strive to move forward in a post-pandemic world, Wells athletes have been waiting in eager anticipation for the return of inter-school competition. This week, our Seahawk Volleyball teams excitedly opened their 2022-2023 campaigns with matches scheduled against some very familiar rivals.

VARSITY SEASON OPENER AGAINST TRADITIONAL RIVAL ICS

On Thursday, September 8, both our boys and girls varsity volleyball teams took the ¡°quick¡± drive to International Community School Bangkok (ICS) to start off their season. A young team with no senior leaders, our boys started out visibly nervous, dropping their first set to a much more confident ICS Eagles team. However, that early setback was enough to light a fire under everyone as the Seahawks dominated sets 2 and 3. After giving our novice players some game time in set 4 allowing ICS to tie it up at 2 sets apiece, our starting team put it away in the tiebreaker set to win the match at 3-2 (16-25, 25-16, 25-16, 23-25, 15-5).

Our varsity girls, also made up of mostly young players, showed clear improvement over previous years and pushed the much taller ICS team to a tiebreaker set as well. However, after a series of back-and-forth rallies, our Lady Seahawks came up just short, losing the tiebreaker, 15-17, and the match, 2-3.

JV TEAMS GO UNDEFEATED AGAINST POWERHOUSE SCHOOLS ISB AND NIST

On the very next day, Friday, September 9, it was our junior varsity volleyball teams opening their seasons at a tri-school meet hosted by ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ (ISB) in Nonthaburi. Being very young with all players being Grade 9 and below, the teams entered the meet anxious and untested. However, after the dust settled, both teams came out victorious and, for now, undefeated.

On the boys side of the gym, our Seahawks had to come from behind in set 1 before dominating set 2, first winning against the ISB Panthers, 2-0 (25-21, 25-17). Their second match was very similar, starting slow and clawing their way back in set 1 before dominating in set 2, defeating the NIST International School Falcons, 2-0 (25-23, 25-16).

The girls matches were much closer with the Lady Seahawks prevailing in a tiebreaker to defeat host ISB, 2-1. And in the second match against NIST, our girls were down 21-23 in set 2 before surging at the end with 4 straight points to win the set 25-23, and the match, 2-0.

Navigating Dangerous Waters /wells-system-wide/navigating-dangerous-waters/ /wells-system-wide/navigating-dangerous-waters/#respond Mon, 12 Dec 2011 04:11:53 +0000 http://wells.ac.th/?p=6628 In the online world of social networks, webcams and instant messaging, students face dangers they may not even recognize. Learn about some of the ways in which you can help your children avoid mistakes and access the internet responsibly.

As educators, it is our responsibility to not simply punish students for making mistakes, but rather turn those mistakes into teaching and learning opportunities. Nowhere is this more essential than in the use of technology. With the advent of social networking, instant messaging and other innovations, children and students have become exposed to a vast range of valuable resources¡ªresources that also carry many veiled dangers. While we at Wells encourage students to make use of this technology¡ªand even maintain a school and ¡ªwe also strive to help them understand how to use those tools in a wise, responsible manner. Indeed, one of the school’s Expected School-wide Learning Results (ESLRs) is ICT proficiency. Yet this learning comes not only from the school, but also from home, where parents must play a major role in understanding and monitoring what their children do online.

Proper online behavior requires educating students about the risks of irresponsible internet use

In the recent article “,” Education Week succinctly encapsulates the seriousness of students¡¯ activity on the internet. While poor social skills and behavioral choices have always been an issue in seeking admission to universities, never before have the lives of students been made more public than they are in the information age. As the article observes, 24% of admissions officers at universities access applicants¡¯ publicly-available pages online to determine whether they possess the social responsibility that universities often see as an indicator of success. Even grimmer for students is the fact that half of those officers cited negative discoveries that did sway them in the consideration process.

While the dangers for high school students certainly merit consideration, they are not the only ones in danger of misuse. Middle school students and even those in primary, both increasingly connected online, face equally troubling risks. Not understanding the structure of sites such as Facebook and other social networking options, many children post photos, comments and private information freely, failing to recognize that virtually anyone can access that content if the proper privacy settings are not in place. Viewing these sites as separate from their offline lives, they do not realize that the effects of vulgarity and cyber-bullying can be just as damaging and permanent as public behaviors.

Computer use is incorporated into the Wells curriculum at all grade levels

Like practically every other modern school, Wells has faced cases in which students have posted questionable photos, made offensive comments or verbally abused others. In such cases we have made every effort to implement appropriate consequences and counsel students in order to help them understand the severity of those actions. However, even more effective is the involvement of parents, who can play a major role in teaching their children responsible, prudent online behavior. By simply being aware of the dangers and having a frank talk with your children, you can turn a potentially hazardous technology into a valuable social tool. Even more valuable is venturing with them onto the internet by creating your own social network profiles and connecting to them online.
