A Burst of Fun-filled Learning Adventures

Our fun day started with seeing elephants up close, an unreal experience. Then, we rode on a pretty carriage pulled by horses and took a calm ride around the park. Next, we planted rice in an actual rice field. It was muddy but so much fun! After that, we went on a boat ride through a pond full of colorful lotus flowers. The breeze felt nice. It was the perfect end to our exciting day! Overall, each activity provided essential insights into Thai culture’s beauty, traditions, and values, creating a deeper appreciation and understanding for each student.

Tasty Treats

Everyone learned how to make khanom krok, a tasty Thai dessert made from oil, milk, and corn. Then, we customized and created our own som tum, a traditional Thai papaya salad. We worked together in groups, adding ingredients and mixing them. Afterward, we all tasted the khanom krok and som tum we made, which was delicious. Finally, at lunch, we watched dancers in pretty Thai clothes from different regions of Thailand. It was a day we will always remember!

The parents of our Taiwanese and Chinese students prepared a dumpling cooking station so that everyone could learn how to make delicious jiÇŽozi! Not only were these dumplings delicious and filling, learning how to prepare dumplings by hand reminded our parents, teachers and students that there is great joy in cooking together.

An important aspect of every Lunar New Year celebration is the story of Nian. Our teachers used props and illustrations to bring the mythical creature Nian to life! This story is a powerful reminder that fear can be conquered through knowledge and understanding. In this legend, the villagers must protect themselves from Nian’s destruction. By working together as a community, the villagers overcome the beast. The story of Nian reminds us that we are stronger and more supported when we work together.

The highlight of this celebration was the Lion dance and firecrackers! Every year, the highschool students perform live percussion while the lion entertains the students and gobbles up oranges from their hands. This performance has great significance in Chinese culture, representing good luck and prosperity in the new year.

Loy Krathong is a significant ancient Thai tradition celebrated in November. This year, it took place on November 11th. The origins of this tradition are derived from a ceremony in connection with water, an essential element of Thai life and culture.

¿Û¿Û´«Ã½ On Nut Campus organized activities for students to commemorate the Thai tradition of Loy Krathong. This began with traditional Thai music, the Loy Krathong song titled ‘Ram Saeng Pen Loy Krathong’, followed by the ‘Suk San Wan Loy Krathong’ dance performed by our high school students.

After the ceremony, all of our students made eco-friendly Krathong from natural products to preserve and protect the environment during the celebration of this holiday.ÌýAll students wore traditional Thai dress and enjoyed the fun Loy Krathong activities on this day.
