From the moment they stepped into the museum, the students were immersed in a world of learning and discovery. Guided by enthusiastic educators, they delved into the intricate concepts of sustainability and environmental stewardship. Through interactive exhibits and engaging discussions, the young minds grasped the significance of preserving our planet for future generations.

One highlight of the trip was the artistic workshop, where students unleashed their creativity using a unique technique. Armed with tin foil and markers, they let their imaginations run wild, transforming simple materials into stunning artworks. This hands-on activity not only fostered their artistic skills but also instilled a sense of resourcefulness and innovation.

But the learning didn’t stop there. The students were in for a real treat as they embarked on a fossil-digging adventure with their friends. With shovels in hand and excitement in their hearts, they unearthed ancient treasures, uncovering the mysteries of prehistoric life. This immersive experience sparked curiosity and ignited a passion for science and exploration among the young adventurers.

As the day drew to a close, the Grade 1 students returned to school with hearts full of newfound knowledge and memories to cherish. The field trip to the Children’s Museum had left an indelible mark on their young minds, inspiring them to become stewards of the environment and champions of creativity.

Father鈥檚 Day is celebrated on December 5th which is the birthday of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the monarch of Thailand. He was born in 1927 and died on October 13th, 2016.

扣扣传媒 – On Nut held a special ceremony in honor of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej to remember his birthday, Father鈥檚 Day and National Day in Thailand. On December 1st, our campus held a ceremony to celebrate fathers and let students show love for their fathers and father figures. Our American Sign Language (ASL) Club and High School choir performed a song called 喔ム浮喔笝喔侧抚 or 鈥楲ove in spring鈥�, which has a deep meaning made by King Rama 9. Then Mr.Brian Salter Townsend gave a meaningful speech about 鈥楩ather鈥檚 Day鈥�, followed by his sons, Patrick (Class of 2024) and Sean (Class of 2029) also give a heartfelt speech to their father.

Additionally, we had another adorable performance to 鈥業 Love My Daddy鈥� from the primary students in Grade 2. Lastly, a video presentation about Father鈥檚 Day was presented by some of the High School students. It was a beautiful ceremony to celebrate this important figure, as well as other father figures, in everyone鈥檚 life. Happy Father鈥檚 Day to all!

On Monday, November 27th, we had an amazing time celebrating our Loy Krathong festival at 扣扣传媒 – On Nut Campus.

This year, our students created Krathongs that are environmentally friendly and we celebrated in the northern style, called 鈥淟anna鈥� or Yi Peng Festival.

On Loy Krathong Day, our students came up with a traditional Thai dance, followed by a fashion show of Thai clothing from all four regions of Thailand and the different types of Krathong from each region. Both students and teachers showed off various Thai fashion and appreciation of Thai culture.

This was a special day where students and teachers alike came together and dressed in traditional Thai clothing to appreciate and celebrate our Thai culture.

Thank you to the Thai Department and everyone who participated in an amazing and memorable celebration for everyone.聽

• High school students made eco-friendly Krathong from natural materials and participated in the Krathong beauty contest.

As part of Loy Krathong activities this year, 扣扣传媒 has made it a priority to protect the environment in the rivers and canals by encouraging all students to make environmentally friendly Krathong which are made from natural materials.

Loy Krathong is a significant ancient Thai tradition celebrated in November. This year, it took place on November 11th. The origins of this tradition are derived from a ceremony in connection with water, an essential element of Thai life and culture.

扣扣传媒 On Nut Campus organized activities for students to commemorate the Thai tradition of Loy Krathong. This began with traditional Thai music, the Loy Krathong song titled ‘Ram Saeng Pen Loy Krathong’, followed by the ‘Suk San Wan Loy Krathong’ dance performed by our high school students.

After the ceremony, all of our students made eco-friendly Krathong from natural products to preserve and protect the environment during the celebration of this holiday.聽All students wore traditional Thai dress and enjoyed the fun Loy Krathong activities on this day.

Learning About Thai Culture

In Grade 2, students have been learning about the various traditions and cultures in our classroom.聽 As a culminating activity we made an in-depth study of Thai culture by first reviewing what they already knew and would like to learn about traditional Thailand. We then took a field trip to the Bangkokian Museum to learn firsthand what traditional Thai homes, furniture, and household items looked like.

Students were intrigued by washbasins, old medicine cabinets, mosquito netting, black and white photographs, and much more.聽 They described typewriters as, 鈥減rinters where you must press the buttons yourself.鈥� They saw old postal stamps and described them as, 鈥渢he things you can get at 7-11鈥�.

Application of Knowledge

Upon returning from the trip we compared these older technologies and traditions against what is seen today by completing a Venn diagram. Students showed that long ago people used candles for light whereas today electricity fills this need. Sewing machine and knitting needles were used to make and repair clothing, where today most clothing is purchased at the store. Along with these observations came many questions and impressions. Students weren鈥檛 sure how the old alarm clock worked and felt that traditional Thai wood furniture must be very uncomfortable. The trip was a great opportunity for students to experience and reflect on the ways Thailand has changed over the years.
