There were 66 students present that morning, ranging from Kindergarten 1-3, and they were divided by class into 3 groups in circles. The activities were as follows: bag painting which allowed the children to unleash their creativity onto plain canvas bags, jigsaw puzzles that encouraged problem-solving and technical skills among the children, and lastly, the color scratching and origami activities entertained motor skills and interactive learning environments.

Monday-November 27-2023
Happy Loy Krathong Day! The spirit of this vibrant festival came alive at ۿ۴ý as our students adorned themselves in traditional Thai attire, embracing the rich cultural heritage of one of Thailand’s grandest celebrations.
The festivities kicked off with a heartfelt speech about Loy Krathong delivered by our insightful Grade 1 students. Their words set the tone for a day filled with cultural immersion and joyous celebration. Following this, our talented students graced the stage with a captivating Loy Krathong dance performance, drawing everyone into the beauty of this traditional Thai festival. The joy was contagious, and soon, students and staff joined in, dancing together in unison, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.
But the celebration didn’t stop there. Various stations were set up to engage everyone in the richness of Loy Krathong traditions. Students had the opportunity to learn the intricate art of crafting Krathong from lotus leaves, a hands-on experience that connected them to the cultural roots of the festival.
A special note of gratitude goes out to all the parents who actively participated, contributing to the success of this special occasion. Your involvement made Loy Krathong Day at ۿ۴ý a truly memorable and enriching experience for everyone.
We look forward to more opportunities to celebrate and embrace the diverse cultural tapestry that makes our school community so special.

After coming back from a long and refreshing October Break, Wells Animal Clubs hosted ‘Animal Week 2023’ from Tuesday, October 24 to Friday, October 27, 2023. The purpose of this event was to raise awareness about animal welfare and engage with various organizations with similar causes. Numerous events during Animal Week allowed Wells students to be energized and excited to come back on campus.

On Tuesday, October 24th, Love Ocean Life (LOL), a club dedicated to supporting ocean life, took the initiative for the start of an amazing week. LOL welcomed an online guest speaker, Mr. Brendon Sing, from Shark Guardian. Shark Guardian is a UK-based charity with the aim to advance the conservation of sharks and the natural environment through research, conservation, and education. Some of the LOL club members got in touch with Shark Guardian during the ServICE Conference 2023 held at NIST International School. LOL club members and Grade 1 students enjoyed an informative and fascinating presentation from Mr. Brendon. Students learned about the endangerment of sharks, what is causing it, and what we can do to provide a safer environment for sharks to live in. Thank you, Shark Guardian and Mr. Brendon for your time and an enriching session!

K9’s collaborating organization is CHSA Thai Stray Animal Shelter, a shelter providing care for various stray animals, especially dogs. K9 welcomed Bahloo, one of our dog-loving teacher Mr. Chase’s dog, who was adopted from CHSA Thai Stray Animal Shelter. Bahloo captured every students’ and teachers’ attention with her friendly personality and adorable looks! Thank you, Bahloo, for easing and relaxing our minds during the busy week! On top of that, K9 hosted a booth selling nachos during the school day as a fundraiser. Students and teachers enjoyed a special mid-day snack!

On Thursday, October 26th, Wells Helping PAWS participated in Animal Week as a fantastic opportunity to promote the welfare of cats. PAWS’ primary objective is to support and enlighten the community in Wells about stray cats. The collaborating organization is PAWS Bangkok, a non-profit organization that offers vital healthcare to stray and community animals. To achieve the goal of raising awareness and funds, PAWS organized interactive activities and merchandise sales. Primary school students were encouraged to enjoy a little game of “Pin the Tail”, in which they won a cat sticker for a prize. The newly established PAWS Middle School Team also organized the game of Cup Pong for middle school students to enjoy. Alongside the fun activities, merchandise selling took place during primary, middle, and high school lunch times. PAWS offered special hand-made cookies, hand-made keychains, hand-made bracelets from PAWS MS Team, cat keychains, and many more!

Throughout the week and the week after, donation boxes for each cause (LOL’s Shark Guardian, K9’s CHSA Stray Animal Shelter, and PAWS’ PAWS Bangkok) were placed in the lobby. In addition, a donation box for Thailand Animal Shelter (TAS), an organization that a Wells alumni, Sami Soni (Class of 2017), has initiated, was placed in the lobby. In the end, the total donations of about 3500 baht were received for all 4 causes combined. Thank you so much to everyone in the Wells community for your support!

All the support from the community through the fundraising booths, activities, and donation boxes is truly appreciated and meaningful for all animals in need. Animal Week offered the community the ability to enhance the well-being of animals while also instilling values of respect and commitment. The ultimate goal for all animal-dedicated clubs and organizations is to ensure that stray and community animals have access to sufficient food and shelter and to create a safer environment for them. Animal Week also showed how collaborating with various clubs and organizations with similar causes can promote a lot more than a single club can do. A shoutout to all animal club members, leaders, and advisors who contributed to and played a vital role in making this event a successful and meaningful one! Wells animal clubs, Love Ocean Life, K9 Wells, and Wells Helping PAWS, will continue to emphasize and spread awareness about the importance of protecting all animals in need.

The month of October is considered as Pinktober which is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” founded by the American Cancer Society in October of 1985. Pinktober serves as an international health campaign with the purpose of globally raising awareness about breast cancer. Throughout October, the SerWIS club, a club dedicated to community service, planned various activities and events to celebrate Pinktober.

Pinktober

Pinktober

SerWIS club members opened up Pinktober by making morning announcements at the beginning of October. A brief description of the purpose of the celebration of PINKtober and facts about diagnosis were shared with students and teachers. Once a week, SerWIS members made morning announcements about early prevention, survivor stories, and statistics about breast cancer. The purpose of these morning announcements were to inform and spread awareness among the school community about breast cancer knowledge that is not widely known.

Pinktober

On top of verbal announcements, SerWIS organized “Pink Shirt Day.” Pink has been chosen as the color of breast cancer awareness by Susan G.Komen for the Cure Foundation since the 1990s. All students and teachers were encouraged to wear pink shirts or items to celebrate PINKtober.

Pinktober

Pinktober

Moreover, SerWIS encouraged the school community to contribute in improving research for breast cancer and supporting the diagnosis by donating to the Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer Foundation through a donation box in the lobby. Over 1000 THB of donations have been donated to Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer Foundation. SerWIS Club would like to show appreciation to everyone for your donations. Thank you very much!

Pinktober

In addition, Wells SerWIS club engaged in an inter-School initiative with ICS and NIST International Schools to celebrate PINKtober through a connection made at the ServICE Conference earlier in September. The purpose of this musical event was to spread awareness about breast cancer and the theme of ‘Harmony in Health’ through music, celebrating physical & mental health, and uniting international schools with the mission to promote and advocate for quality health. Along with wearing Pink shirts, SerWIS held PINKtober Music Festival with the theme of “Harmony in Health,” during middle and high school lunch periods on Friday, October 27, 2023.

Pinktober

Pinktober

For Primary school, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students danced along to the song “Fight Song” by Rachel Platten to show positive and powerful energy and honor people fighting against breast cancer. For middle and high schoolers, Mr.Richie, one of our talented teachers, played a guitar and sang along to the song “Soon You’ll Get Better” by Taylor Swift to celebrate women empowerment and breast cancer awareness. Students gathered in the coliseum wearing pink shirts or ribbons to show their support. As a product of this collaboration, a Pink Music Movie consisting of pictures and videos of students showing “Harmony in Health” from 3 different international schools was produced.

On Thursday, October 12, the Thong Lo campus’ first fire drill of the year was a remarkable display of preparedness and discipline. The commitment of both students and staff to safety and the successful execution of the drill reaffirm the school’s dedication to maintaining a secure environment for its community. As we move forward, the invaluable lessons learned from this exercise will continue to shape the culture of safety within the campus.
Students, without exception, exhibited maturity and responsibility as they evacuated their classrooms with remarkable speed, all while maintaining a calm and orderly environment. There was no pushing, shoving, or panic, which speaks volumes about the discipline and preparedness of both students and the staff.
The success of any fire drill depends not only on the swift evacuation but also on the accountability of every individual. In this regard, the teachers and assistants played a crucial role. They efficiently organized students by class into well-defined lines at the designated assembly point. Their meticulous approach ensured that no one was left behind, as they took attendance and confirmed that every student was accounted for. This level of organization instills confidence that the school community is well-prepared to handle emergencies.
In addition to being a practical exercise in fire safety, the fire drill served as a valuable learning experience for both students and staff. By participating in this drill, they gained a firsthand understanding of the importance of preparedness and teamwork during critical moments. The positive and responsible behavior exhibited during the exercise is a testament to the effectiveness of the school’s safety protocols and the commitment of the Thong Lo community to the well-being of its members.
With the successful execution of this fire drill, the Thong Lo campus has set a high standard for preparedness and safety. This experience serves as a reminder that ensuring the safety of students and staff remains a top priority. It is essential to build on this success by continuing to practice fire drills and other safety protocols regularly. The lessons learned from this exercise will serve as a foundation for handling real emergencies with confidence and efficiency.
