Back to School: Starting a Journey of Learning Together

One month into a new school year, it’s a time to reflect on the incredible journey we’ve embarked upon since the beginning of the term. We’ve successfully transitioned into the school year, met new friends and teachers, and established a strong sense of community. As we settle into our routines, let’s celebrate the milestones we’ve achieved and look forward to the exciting adventures ahead.

In these past few weeks, our students have not only adjusted to their new classes but have also formed meaningful connections with their peers and teachers. These connections are the heart and soul of our school community, fostering an environment of support and friendship. During the first few weeks of school, our students created “Essential Agreements” which serve to establish a set of expectations for everyone in the class and school. During our primary assembly, the older students helped guide their younger peers through a discussion about our needs and responsibilities. The students also shared how teachers and staff can make our school even better for them this year. Some ideas they shared include making space for soccer, giving students more time to eat snacks and lunch. Others mentioned the books they want for the library. This feedback is valuable and helps us grow as a collaborative community.

We extend our appreciation to all the parents who joined our Parent Orientation on campus. Parent involvement has helped shape Wells Bang Na in many positive ways, affirming the work of teachers and encouraging our students to share their learning and progress with their family members. During our “meet the teacher” time, some classes has student-led presentations, allowing our primary students to give the typical back to school information directly to their parents. In Grade 4, the students explained our SEL program to parents. In Grade 5, they expressed their growth and goals for the upcoming year. The kindergarten students were simply overjoyed to see parents and grandparents in their classrooms!

As our journey of learning continues to unfold, we will continue to make home connections a significant part of our school culture.

The International Festival – Wells BangNa

Wells Bang Na’s learners are global citizens who represent an array of cultures and nations. On February 24th, our campus held the International Festival 2023. This event marked the very first international day celebration since the global pandemic, which really brought families and teachers together in planning a fantastic event! This event was an excellent way to promote cultural awareness and understanding, as well as to build a sense of community among students.

The day began with a flag parade. Everyone gathered at the early years building and paraded down the lane. It was wonderful to see everyone waving their flags proudly. Next, our students and parents showed off their traditional styles during our catwalk of nations. There were cheers of excitement from the audience, showing strong support for each other.

Everyone was amazed at the beautiful performances put on by our students and parents. The early years students were energetic yet composed drummers and dancers. The older students performed John Lennon’s inspiring song “Imagine”. The Indian community shared various dances from different parts of their country. The Thai teacher’s assistants choreographed their own dance, too!

The country booths featured fun games, activities and crafts that helped everyone learn more about the nations represented in our school community. Lebanon, Myanmar, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Japan, India, France, and The Philippines were set up as destinations for the students to visit.

Lastly, the food festival provided yummy treats and a festive atmosphere for everyone to connect. Overall, the International Festival was a fantastic way to promote cultural understanding, celebrate diversity, and build a sense of community within the school.

Special US Guests Visit Wells

On Thursday, December 2, we had some special guests who traveled from the U.S. to visit our school and learn more about the �ۿ۴�ý philosophy, as well as the various organizations and initiatives under Everclever Co., Ltd., owned and founded by Chairman, Dr. Chang Yao-Lang. Among our guests were: Mr. Andrew Kim, Dr. Henry Tsai, Dr. Chris Ching, Mr. John C. Goodson, and Mr. Michael Lamoureuy.

Our Head of School, Mr. Ray de la Peñ��, first presented an overview of the Wells philosophy, education systems and major academic and extracurricular achievements over the years. Wells aims to provide an affordable and quality international education, as well as a diverse range of personalized academic, athletic and extracurricular opportunities for students to develop and thrive based on their unique strengths and talents. To name a few, these opportunities include our Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs, elite athlete programs, community service, and University of Hawaii Summer Science Camp.

Following the first presentation, Ms. Tina Yang, Chief Operating Officer of European International University (EIU), shared about EIU’s mission to provide affordable and quality higher education to a diverse group of international students across the globe. She also discussed EIU’s accomplishments at present and their vision for the future to integrate more blockchain technology and AI into their learning systems. Finally, Mr. Osris Lee, Special Assistant to the Chairman, presented a new concept, ‘Wellsverse’, an initiative to utilize technology and create interactive learning and engaging educational experiences for students.

After the presentations, the guests were given a tour of our Wells On Nut Campus for the guests to see our facilities and school environment which support the learning and extracurricular activities which happen within the primary, middle and high school.

Overall, our guests were very impressed learning about Wells’ accomplishments and future plans for continued growth and improvement of quality educational experiences. Wells is happy to collaborate with international partners and would like to extend a sincere thank you to our guests for taking the time to visit our community and learn more about our ethos.
