History was made on a sunny Monday morning on December 4th at the 扣扣传媒 Chonburi Campus. The Chonburi campus opened its gates to all Wells Primary students from all four campuses in Thailand. The early morning sun and a cool breeze welcomed the buses and vans as the students arrived in their sports team shirts. The air was charged with anticipation as the entire school community came together to celebrate a day filled with sporting events, teamwork and opportunities to make new friends.聽

The Sports Day event was not just a regular sports day; it was a celebration of the unity that defines 扣扣传媒. The students took turns participating in various events such as swimming, hurdles, running relays, cross-country running, and even tricycle racing. One of the highlights was the tug-of-war event as parents and team members were cheering from the sidelines. Our students showed their resilience during the cross-country racing as they raced around the village lake. Equally important, the students had a chance to cool off in the main school building, where various teams threw balls into the basketball nets. The events were planned to showcase our students鈥� potential for future teams and events.聽

This day, Wells School aimed to bring students and families from different campuses together. The sidelines were filled with cheering families, creating a supportive environment that underscored the importance of community involvement. The event served as a testament to the collaborative efforts required to make a new campus truly feel like home. The parents’, teachers’, and students鈥� hard work was pivotal to the success of the day. A special thank you goes to the organizing team at Chonburi campus, including the area coordinators, event coordinators, assistants and coaches for their excellent organizational and planning skills.

The inaugural Cross-Campus Sports Day at 扣扣传媒鈥檚 new campus was not just an athletic event; it was a celebration of unity, community, and the thrilling journey that lies ahead. We are excited to watch our students make the new campus at 扣扣传媒 Chonburi their own and become a testament to the resilience, spirit, and unity that characterize 扣扣传媒 Chonburi鈥檚 newest chapter.

On October 19th, the primary students in the Bang Na campus launched a 鈥淔estival of Hope鈥� workshop and invited the middle school students from the On Nut campus to discuss this topic, an initiative taking place in the IB World School community. Hope is universal, it鈥檚 a concept that touches all of our lives and hearts, from young to older students. Starting a conversation around 鈥渉ope鈥澛� helped our students engage in activities across grade levels as well as campuses, getting to know new people and students from the school community. Our students spent the entire day discussing their perspectives on hope and its connection to their everyday lives at school and at home.聽

During this event, students moved through a variety of activities that helped them consider how hope is grown and given. The students created artwork, poetry, music and songs that expressed their own hopes and aspirations. At one station, they wrote hopes for the school, the community and the world.聽

Before the event ended, we reflected on our learning together. The students were invited to speak up during an open-mic discussion. Being the risk-takers that they are, the primary students spoke about how much they enjoyed learning alongside middle school students for the first time. The middle school students communicated beautifully about the importance of hope in their lives. Some students used symbolism and metaphors to express their understandings. All of our students mentioned how fun it was to work together.

Our hope for building a strong community was realized through this day together. The teachers鈥� hope of developing our students鈥� self awareness and emotional needs is an important part of this celebration,too. The Hope Festival will continue throughout the next semester, connecting Wells to other IB World Schools around the globe.聽

Through this exchange, we could fully appreciate what a powerful tool hope really is. Hope can change our outlook, relationships and even impact our community.聽

The Back to school season is always an exciting time for students and teachers. Our students were happy to return to school, especially to meet their new teachers and friends. The first two weeks back went by fast. The students in primary classes worked on establishing essential agreements or codes of conduct that every student wanted to see from themselves and others. In the early years’ classes, students got to get to know each other, share their interests, and help decorate the classroom. By the third and fourth week of school, exciting learning experiences were underway, with each class unpacking their first unit of inquiry.聽

Wells Bang Na welcomed parents to visit the homeroom classes towards the end of August.
These visits were surprisingly exciting for our students. The upper primary students decided they would be the tour guides and managers, introducing their parents to teachers. The K3 students wanted to show off their learning centers and classroom organization systems. Our students were eager to introduce their friends to their moms and dads, strengthening the school and home connections and relationships. Families are an integral part of the support for our school, and we will continue to welcome their participation in event planning and whole-school initiatives throughout the year.聽

Our teachers are looking forward to an eventful year of learning. Seeing the happiness and enthusiasm of our students during this first month has breathed new life into our classrooms. We are so fortunate to have such a dynamic group of students that will continue to collaborate with teachers in positively shaping this school year and the campus environment.

Students then created two different models to demonstrate how the earth and moon orbit the sun.聽 One model used while the other model was made with .聽 In their paper models many students chose to detail the sun with sunspots and the moon with craters.

Moving out further into our solar system students began to read text according to their Lexile reading level.聽 As they studied this text they answered questions, completed graphic organizers and posted interesting facts for each planet.

In addition to reading teacher-prepared text students researched topics of their choosing.聽 While some students researched constellations others decided to learn more about black holes and satellites.聽 Student lead charts were posted on the walls allowing them to share their research with other students.

Using these notes students began to create a class bulletin board to share their learning with the entire school.聽 Students colored the planets as they are seen in space.聽 They then drafted and published descriptive text to be posted on the board.

After completing the bulletin board students will then begin writing about objects in our solar system.

On Friday 8^th March, Wells Thong Lo hosted a 鈥楶arenting Styles鈥� workshop, welcoming parents of children across all ages; from nursery students, that are filled with wonder about the world around them through to high school students, where the parents are challenged with the task of ensuring that curiosity and wonder remains as their child makes life changing decisions about their future. No matter what age the child is, parenting is an art that develops with time and experience, changing form with each individual child.

Ms. Camarin, Wells Early years and Primary School counselor, discussed the challenges faced in 21^st century parenting and the different parenting styles that are adopted; authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, or聽neglectful. Authoritative has been highlighted in many studies as the most effective style; whereby effort is put into creating and maintaining聽a positive relationship with the child, reasoning is given for rules that are enforced with given consequences, whilst simultaneously taking the child鈥檚 feelings into consideration. Although this style is favoured, every child and every familial background is different and should be factored in, potentially changing the dynamic and what action or style is most suitable. At times, good parents cross multiple styles, adapting to their child and situation.

Through open discussion, Wells leadership, teachers and Ms. Camarin discussed聽 problems faced today by parents and teachers alike. There is a direct relationship between home and school, where parents and teachers are working towards the same or similar goals, with the child’s welfare and development at the heart of decision making. We recognize, address and appreciate the challenges faced by parents and are here to support and guide where we can. We value our students, families and aim to continuously build a stronger community.
