Wells recently celebrated with this year’s IB Visual Arts young artists in the sixth annual IB Visual Arts Exhibition. This Exhibition is a culmination of the students’ two year journey of creativity and craftsmanship in one of the IB DP courses. They have exerted a great deal of effort, time and care into their artwork and portfolio. Thus, we would like to take this opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, creativity and hard work.

After two years of ups and downs related to the pandemic, this year’s theme was ‘Resilience’, representing the resilience the students have developed in overcoming challenges and adapting to changing circumstances. There is no doubt these students have been tested throughout these times, but they have become stronger and more resilient as a result. This is even demonstrated through their artwork, whether it be through the use of digital mediums or various emotions and themes related to online learning. There were a variety of interesting themes and concepts that were built upon from their personal and cultural experiences which shines through each piece of artwork.

This year, there were nine students who showcased their artwork in a variety of art-making forms which they have carefully selected as final pieces for the exhibition. The students exhibiting included So Youn Lee, Shreeya Srimanothip, Ari Silva, Tiffany Chen, Herb Udompholvanich, Kaede Kodama, Miho Okazawa, MJ Caunan, and Risa Hayashi from the Class of 2022. For these candidates, it is a feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment of their dreams and aspirations of becoming artists and embracing the Arts as not just a hobby, but a lifetime experience.��

On Tuesday, March 22, we held an opening day to honor the artists’ two years of hard work and invite members of the school community to enjoy a celebration of the arts. We had wonderful performances throughout the evening from our high school band, and several student-led clubs hosting booths to fundraise for their respective causes. Overall, it was a wonderful showcase of our students’ artistic talents in a variety of forms.

In regards to the exhibition, there were 7 students, most of them IB candidates, who showcased their artwork in a variety of art-making forms which they have carefully selected as final pieces for the exhibition. The students exhibiting included Siddhi Bhora, Jiwon (Ellen) Jeong, Pooja Sachdev, Gordon Lau, Seung Eun Lee, Bo Wen Zhao, and James Lawthienchai from the Class of 2021.

As for the candidates, it is a feeling of accomplishment and fulfillment of their dreams and aspirations of becoming artists and embracing the Arts as not just a hobby, but a lifetime experience. There were a variety of interesting themes and concepts that were built upon from their personal and cultural experiences that reflected onto most of their artworks. We are proud and salute you all for making this event a success! Congratulations, Wells emerging artists!

The IB Year 1 and Year 2 students visited the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre Foundation that hosted the exhibition, entitled: “SPECTROSYNTHESIS II – Exposure of Tolerance: LGBTQ in Southeast Asia”. The nature of the exhibition, with its theme of gender diversity whether in terms of cultural, or ethnic diversity, has opened the minds of our students to understand the issues and change their perspective of this culturally gender tolerant country.

The highlights of the visit are for the students to develop their curatorial skills in terms of exhibition ideas, consider methods of display (crucial for exhibition ideas), understand how meaning is communicated in the artworks and become aware of the artist- viewer relationships.

The students had been very positive about what they observed and were keen on writing reflections and recording documentations for visual art journals for future reference. Many of them were able to gain inspiration for potential artwork or future exhibitions as well.

The Wells Visual Arts Department cordially invites members of our school community to join us for our 4th Annual IB Visual Arts Exhibition. The opening day will take place on Friday, March 20 from 11 AM to 2 PM in the Wells On Nut Campus Gymnasium, and the exhibition will be displayed from the 20th through the 27th of March in our front lobby.

The exhibition is the final assessment of our Class of 2020 IB Visual Arts students. They have exerted a great deal of effort, time and care into their artwork and portfolio and thus, we would like to take this opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, creativity and hard work.

On Monday, March 3, we held an opening night to honor the artists’ hard work and invite members of the school community to enjoy a celebration of the Arts. Various high school clubs and projects held booths to promote their causes, and we had wonderful performances throughout the evening from our Choir, band and dance groups. Overall, it was a wonderful showcase of our students’ artistic talents in a variety of forms, and their engagement in co-curricular activities.

Wells Participation in 1st Thailand Art Talent 2018

�ۿ۴�ý was greatly honored to participate in this year’s 1st Thailand Art Talent held at River City arts & crafts center. This event empowered our students in visual and performing arts to showcase their artworks to a wide audience, serving as an opportunity for our aspiring young artists to gain exposure and recognition for their artistic and creative masterpieces.

Visual & Performing Arts at Wells

�ۿ۴�ý offers the IB Diploma Programme as one pathway to prepare our high school students for university. One of the subjects being offered is IB Visual Arts, which aims to develop and experience student artistry and creativity skills. Most of the artwork on display was products of our IB and non-IB visual arts student alumni – works which were showcased in their final visual art exhibition. The IB Programme at Wells offers a variety of other courses, including Literature and Performance.Our Visual & Performing Arts Department offers students different opportunities in the arts, including dance, drama, choir, and band. Several performing arts performances are showcased throughout the year, and we were grateful for the opportunity to share one of our student dance numbers in the Art and Creative School Fair initiative.

On Wednesday, February 21, our school community gathered to celebrate the achievements of our seniors, Jojo and Walter, in the opening night of our 2nd Annual IBDP Visual Arts Exhibition! The exhibition culminates the students’ two years of craftsmanship and hard work, and shows the development of their artistic abilities and knowledge over the years.

Opening night was a success with lots of guests, homemade food, live music performances from our students and teachers, and great discussions around the students’ artwork. Our VIP guest for the evening, Madam��Astrid Amaya, the wife of the Ambassador of Colombia, came to admire the exhibit and have a chat with the two artists.

A special thanks is extended to all Principals, coordinators, VPA Dept., parents, teachers, and students who joined, participated and contributed to the success of the event. The exhibit will be displayed until Wednesday, February 28th so please do check it out if you were not able to make opening night!
