Celebrating the Spirit of Christmas: �ۿ۴�ý Chonburi’s Magical Christmas Gala

The air was filled with excitement and festive cheer as �ۿ۴�ý Chonburi prepared for its annual Christmas Gala. Students, parents, and staff gathered on December 14th to celebrate the joyous occasion of the very first Wells Chonburi Christmas Gala, making it a night never to forget.

The highlight of the Christmas Gala was undoubtedly the spectacular performances by �ۿ۴�ý’s talented students. From heartwarming carol renditions to lively dance numbers, the stage came alive with our students’ hard work and talents. Parents beamed with pride as their children showcased their creativity and dedication to spreading joy.

The Christmas Gala served as more than a festive celebration—it was a time for the school community to unite and share our students’ talents. Parents, teachers, and students created lasting memories that extended beyond the holiday season. The opportunities to perform on stage build our students’ confidence and sense of belonging.

In the true spirit of Christmas giving, �ۿ۴�ý Chonburi organized a charity initiative during the Gala. Donations were collected to give to a local school. Parents and students were eager to provide books, toys, stationery and cleaning products to the Ban Huay Yang School around the corner from our school. The school community came together to positively impact the lives of those in need, embodying the true meaning of the season.

The Christmas Gala at �ۿ۴�ý Chonburi celebrated the season’s culture and created an ideal space for the school community to come together, share their talents, and foster the importance of giving back to the community.

Halloween Mania!

Halloween was a huge success this year! Taking the “Wells Costume Mania” theme very seriously, the students, teachers and some parents came dressed in some surprisingly creative costumes. The day began with an exciting parade in which the students marched around the field several times to the tune of “The Baby Elephant Walk Song,” allowing time for the parents to take photos. They also had the opportunity to showcase their costumes on stage, class by class for an unorthodox fashion show. Afterward, parent judges gave out awards and prizes for costumes, including the “Most Creative,” “Most Beautiful,” “Funniest” and “Scariest.” Throughout the remainder of the day, fun games were played in classrooms and the children went trick-or-treating on the field to collect candy from the teachers and parents.

With so much activity throughout the day, we were indebted to the parents who provided such a vast amount of assistance. Thanks to all of our judges–Kevin Chin, Jess Khorana, Kirstin Lamoureux and Nidhi Kawinvinit–and all of the other PTO members who participated and helped, including Jasmine Kim, Kyung Sil Lee, Joy Roberts, Niracha Bussayabuntoon, Monique Kleinnibbelink, Jane Chin and Panisa Buhagiar. All of the parents were generous in their time and support.

New Campus, New Year

The celebration of Songkran is said to bring good luck and prosperity, and for Wells International Kindergarten – Bang Na, our first Songkran festival reflected a whole year of good fortune. Throughout the fall and spring semesters, our first year of operation reflected the dedication of a wonderful group of parents and teachers working together to maintain the high standards of the Wells system and provide their children with engaging, enjoyable learning.

Decked in traditional Thai costumes and colorful floral designs, the Bang Na students welcomed the new year by first learning the history and importance of the holiday, and how it is celebrated in Thailand. Applying their new-found knowledge, they performed the traditional rod nam dum hua ceremony by pouring scented water over the hands of their teachers and parents, paying respect for the learning opportunities they have received throughout the year. The children were pleased to discover that the good wishes went both ways, as their elders accepted the small gifts of flowers and wished them good luck in turn. Not ignoring the exciting aspects of Songkran, the students demonstrated their mastery of the traditional games they had learned from their Thai teacher, Ms. Nina. Even the Wells drivers got in on the fun, surprising everyone by forming a drum troupe and performing a Thai dance.

As the music came to an end, the children changed in swimwear, preparing for their first water battle. Skipping through activities, they took part in competitions, relays and games before arming themselves with water guns and splashing one another—and their teachers—to cap the day. With a blossoming new campus, new friends and caring parents, our staff and students have had a great deal to be thankful for.

Christmas Brings Wonders to Thong Lor

Christmas is a magical time for children, bringing visions of gifts, games, and time spent with family and friends. Seeking to capture some of that magic, our Thong Lor campus launched its annual Christmas show with a few surprises, and our “Winter Wonderland” extravaganza thankfully captured the imaginations of our students and parents. Teachers and students worked hard in order to create a memorable show for our parents, filled with a variety of performances featuring our Nursery to Grade 2 classes. Among the featured acts were dances, songs, and a skit about Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, which was brilliantly performed by our grade 2 students. Spreading the Christmas cheer beyond the usual images of the cold snow, the children shimmied and shook to the tunes of Disney movies and wore dazzling costumes that ranged from hula dancers to birds, sea creatures, ballroom dancers and even Mickey Mouse. Even the parents showed their knowledge about children’s songs during the parent activity in which Ms. Kh-Kha, our music teacher, played nursery rhymes and our parents took guesses at the titles of the songs. The Thong Lor teachers even made an appearance on stage, surprising the students and parents with the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas” with a twist. Not be left out, Santa Claus closed the festival when he appeared on the back of a motorbike, distributing gifts to the excited students!

We would like to thank Mr. Chang and Ms. Lee for their generosity with the gifts for all the students, and most of all thank all, to the parents and relatives who came to support us during the show. It was wonderful to see a sea of supporters sporting the white and blue colors represented in the show’s theme, and capped a successful end to 2011. We hope to produce an even better show at our next Christmas show in 2012. Thank you, and have a happy 2012!

Wells International Mole Day

A mole is a measurement for the amount of matter in atoms. Surprisingly enough, for all you chemistry haters, we have a day to commemorate this special unit. Created by Avagadro, and thus named “Avagadro’s number,” the mole represents “6.02 X 10²³” of anything, much as a dozen represents 12 of anything. Mole Day was created to educate people about the fun of chemistry. It’s an enjoyable way to learn and work with the concept of large numbers. The mole is used to represent large amounts of atoms or molecules that make up substances. This is really useful, especially when you’re using it with real-world applications such as finding the amount of products that chemical reactions will produce.

Mole Day is celebrated on October 23^rd every year from 6:02am to 6:02pm. This year our school will be celebrating it on the 20^th of October, because the 23^rd is a Saturday. We will celebrate by having a Mole Day fundraiser to benefit the grade 10 class. Students will be entitled to a treat of mole cakes, mole-nies, mole-nuts and mole-drinks in mole-cups. We are sure you will enjoy yourself on this spectacular day, so please come out and support us. We expect to give you all at least “a mole of happiness.”
