Students from 4th to 8th grade at ۿ۴ý in Chonburi went on a thrilling adventure to Suan Thai in Pattaya. This amazing trip granted them an experience with authentic Thai culture. The day was filled with lots of fun and learning about Thai culture! They cooked, rode on a horse carriage, went on a boat, saw elephants, made crafts, danced, and even helped plant rice. It was a day they’ll never forget!

A Burst of Fun-filled Learning Adventures

Our fun day started with seeing elephants up close, an unreal experience. Then, we rode on a pretty carriage pulled by horses and took a calm ride around the park. Next, we planted rice in an actual rice field. It was muddy but so much fun! After that, we went on a boat ride through a pond full of colorful lotus flowers. The breeze felt nice. It was the perfect end to our exciting day! Overall, each activity provided essential insights into Thai culture’s beauty, traditions, and values, creating a deeper appreciation and understanding for each student.

Tasty Treats

Everyone learned how to make khanom krok, a tasty Thai dessert made from oil, milk, and corn. Then, we customized and created our own som tum, a traditional Thai papaya salad. We worked together in groups, adding ingredients and mixing them. Afterward, we all tasted the khanom krok and som tum we made, which was delicious. Finally, at lunch, we watched dancers in pretty Thai clothes from different regions of Thailand. It was a day we will always remember!

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, the Wells Community has had to transition to distance learning for the past two months. Despite the challenge, our high school teachers and students quickly transitioned and made the most of the situation, continuing to deliver quality lessons to students and ensure the connection to school remained strong. Our teachers have become very creative with their pedagogical instruction and integration of technology. Likewise, our students are developing many of the twenty-first century skills essential for their present and futures, including creativity, collaboration, technology literacy, adaptability and critical thinking.

Here are some of the highlights of what has been happening in our virtual classrooms in high school:

Notable Student Work & Projects

Through their various subjects, students were given opportunities to develop both content knowledge, as well as their video editing skills, such as Ms. Viessa’s IB Psychology classes, Ms. Sandy’s IB Economics classes, and Ms. Farhana’s Algebra II classes. In IB Psychology, Ms. Viessa and the Grade 12 students also put together a ‘Speaker Series’, where professional guest speakers visited the class Google Meets to share their knowledge about Psychology and the real world, as the seniors prepare for their next phase of life after high school. As an example, Mr. Jeff Harry, motivational speaker from , talked about the importance of creativity and play in the process of working towards goals. The student projects and videos can be accessed by clicking in the following links:

Expression through the Arts

In Mr. Ren’s Grade 10 classes, students were given a platform to express their ideas about the current pandemic through creative artwork.

Digital Fun

In high school, we also made time for fun in the digital world. The Student Council organized a virtual sports day, where students competed in virtual rock-paper-scissors, chess, Kahoot!, and more. They also organized a Spirit Week to boost morale and add some extra fun to online learning. We have also been able to have some guest speakers join us to share with our students and keep them inspired during these times.

Flanked by M.L. Nattakorn Devakula, Major General Surasit Thanadtang and other VIPs, Chairman Chang Yao-Lang officially opens the campus.

Visit our Facebook page to see additional photos of the event:

The first day of school for a kindergarten student can be a nerve-wracking time, filled with an overwhelming flood of emotions and new experiences. The inauguration of a new school is no different, stretching the patience and resources of administrators and teachers as they hope that their efforts will lead to success. With parents, students, teachers and many special guests joined together in mutual support, ۿ۴ý avoided any such apprehension and instead enthusiastically celebrated the opening of its new Bangna kindergarten campus, located on Srinakarin 62, with a grand ceremony and its first annual Wells International Kindergarten Fair.

As the newest addition to the Wells system and the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT), Wells – Bangna carries on the exceptional quality of education offered to Wells students, as recognized by its accrediting body, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Thai Ministry of Education. Focusing on first-rate academics through engaging, hands-on learning experiences; a wide range of extra-curriculars in the arts and athletics, as well as learning support; and its philanthropic efforts in the community, ۿ۴ý truly does seek to provide its students with a world-class education. With its graduates now attending prestigious universities around the world—including top institutions in Asia, Europe and the United States—it is undoubtedly succeeding in that mission.

Commencing the opening ceremony, Mr. Chang Yao-Lang—owner and CEO of EverClever Education Group, of which Wells is a part—spoke of the need to provide a superior education to its students, and to prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century. This need was highlighted again by Mom Luang Nattakorn Devakula, who expressed his belief that “Wells kindergarten is the best choice for international education in Bangkok” in an ever-more competitive race to enter top secondary schools and universities. Mr. Nattakorn, an expectant father, stated that his own son would be attending Wells – Bangna in the future. Also welcoming the campus to the international school community was Rev. Father Wirach Amonpattana, an ISAT committee member and long-time friend of the school.

The ceremony and subsequent fair featured a number of stellar performances from current Wells students and guests, including a medley of songs first featured in the hit television series Glee, and brought live to the stage by the Wells Glee Club. Seeking to recognize the contributions of the many groups that form the Wells community, dances and music from various cultures were scattered throughout the morning. Most impressive of all were the representatives from the Russian embassy, who provided spirited pieces that highlighted their rich cultural heritage and drew abundant praise from the audience.

With young children from Wells – Thong Lor, Wells – On Nut and the surrounding community all gleefully participating in the educational and cultural activities, the fair proved to be a rousing success and a good foundation for a future tradition. In addition to the parents, students and teachers, thanks to the many sponsors and supporters who wished our new campus well as it and its students begin their new journey:
