Grade 4 and 5 Students Unite for Survival Camp
Grade 4 and 5 students from ¿Û¿Û´«Ã½â€™s Chonburi and Bang Na campuses came together for their first-ever survival camp. Hosted at the Chonburi campus, the event aimed to teach students essential survival skills and then reinforce those skills by applying them to later activities. The camp challenged students to learn how to use available resources to build shelters, cook, and more, all while having fun.

Hands-On Activities and Teamwork
The day was filled with hands-on activities where students learned by doing. They practiced addressing injuries through role-playing scenarios and tied knots to build shelters using rope, bamboo, and tarps. They worked in teams to read different types of maps to solve problems, using this skill in a whole-campus scavenger hunt to find a missing word. When students were working on these activities, they took the lead in solving problems together, with teachers acting as facilitators. The camp also ended with an exciting lesson on building fires and cooking their own food. Students had so much fun throughout the day as they tackled new challenges. Ìý

Building Skills and Leadership
We were thrilled to see the students collaborate and support one another throughout the camp. They displayed impressive leadership, engineering, and survival skills while fostering teamwork and communication. The camp was a great opportunity for students to apply what they had just learned, reinforcing their skills through real-world activities. This memorable experience highlighted their ability to problem-solve, lead, and work together as a team, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts.

In response to the growing interest in STEAM education, Bangna Campus is proud to incorporate basic robotics using LEGO® WeDo 2.0 in the curriculum for Grade 1 and Grade 2 students. This move will provide our young students with fundamental skills in critical thinking, creativity, and practical insights into technology-characteristics that are so vital in today’s swiftly evolving environment.

Why STEAM and Robotics?

STEAM education globally encourages the integration of these disciplines in education to better equip students with the challenges they will face. In particular, robotics enhances problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation-skills that are increasingly in high demand in the contemporary labor market. By using LEGO® WeDo 2.0 in Grades 1 and 2, we are introducing students at an early age to the opportunity of exploring and experimenting with technology in an appealing and age-appropriate manner.

About LEGO® WeDo 2.0

The LEGO WeDo 2.0 is an award-winning robotics platform for elementary education, which introduces students to the basics of coding and engineering. Using simple drag-and-drop programming along with sensors, motors, and LEGO bricks, students are empowered to build and program a robot to interact with its environment. This activity-based teaching aid is aimed explicitly at sparking curiosity so that students will explore real-life issues and develop creative solutions.

Preparing for the future

The integration of LEGO® WeDo 2.0 fundamental robotics in Grades 1 and 2 forms part of our progressive strides in preparing our students for the future. We are proud that Bangna campus is leading the way with this integration into the curriculum in the field of STEAM education, and consequently giving our students everything they need to navigate life through in a technologically driven world.

By promoting creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking, this program enhances students’ comprehension of robotics while laying a solid foundation for lifelong learning and innovation. Our commitment to STEAM education, further empowered by the integration of robotics within formative years, ensures that we will be on the frontline in the pursuit of excellence in education.
