On Wednesday, April 3rd, students were buzzing with excitement around campus, actively engaged in various activities and workshops. Workshops included planting, composting, cookie decorating, Japanese calligraphy with Japanese club, keychain making with BDFY club, Korean language learning with Korean club and tote bag painting with Wells helping PAWS. Students had fun engaging in workshops, interacting with their younger peers, as well as teaching their teachers!

On Thursday, April 4th, we had the honor of some special guest speakers joining us during to share their knowledge and insights on various topics and inspire visitors to make conscious choices that help make positive differences in their communities. Our speakers included our alumni Sami Soni (Class of 2017) speaking about her non-profit organization, Thailand Animal Shelter, helping educate primary students about reducing waste, Mr. Chris Oestereich from taking students on a journey about systems thinking and Mr. Dean Madeira from , who enlightened us about the sustainability in cleft lip and palate surgeries.聽

We also hosted a Movie Night under the stars, inviting our students and their families to an outdoor movie showing, with proceeds going to , a shelter for stray animals our Wells K9 club has been working with for many years.聽聽

On the last day, we celebrated with a Songkran-style farmer鈥檚 market booth fair, where a variety of our clubs, local community organizations, primary classes, parents and teachers hosted booths. This included our community partners, , , , , as well as many of our clubs: Greenhawks, ASL, Thai Club, Japanese Club, PAWS, etc.

Through our Farmer’s Market event, we raised funds for CHSAThai and other local causes that work towards sustainability in our community. Our visitors were able to contribute to these causes by purchasing products from the various booths or making direct donations. We believe that supporting these organizations is crucial in promoting sustainability and service learning as part of our school culture.

The 3-day Farmer’s Market event was a big success in promoting sustainability in our community. We would like to thank all of the passionate educators and students for their enthusiasm and collaboration in creating a memorable, fun and educational experience to bring us into the Songkran break.聽 We look forward to hosting similar events in the future and continuing to promote sustainability and service in our community.

Over the preceding year, Wells Bang Na has engaged in a rigorous process of self-study, meticulously examining every facet of its operations and educational practices. This included a thorough review of governance structures, organizational frameworks, curriculum delivery, student support systems, faculty development initiatives, and community engagement strategies. The objective was not just to meet the accreditation standards but to gain insight on what should be prioritized in the upcoming school years.聽

The evaluation visit served as an opportunity for external evaluators to scrutinize and validate the school’s self-assessment findings. They conducted interviews, observed classroom activities, analyzed documentation, and interacted with various stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of Wells Bang Na’s educational ethos and practices.

Community involvement and collaboration were also integral aspects of the evaluation process. The evaluators assessed the extent to which Wells Bang Na fosters partnerships with parents, local organizations, and other stakeholders to enrich the educational experience and contribute positively to the broader community.

As the evaluation visit concluded, the Wells Bang Na community eagerly awaits the feedback and recommendations from the IB and WASC evaluators. While the process has been rigorous, it has also been an affirming testament to the school’s unwavering commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. Regardless of the outcome, the journey towards accreditation has been a transformative experience, reinforcing Wells Bang Na’s position as a leading institution dedicated to nurturing future-ready global citizens.

The middle school students at 扣扣传媒 Chonburi arrived at school early on the Saturday morning of January 22nd. Our middle school teachers held a one-day workshop on academic integrity, and most of our students attended. The aim was to foster honesty and ethical behavior in the students鈥� research and academic writing.聽

Paraphrasing Instead of Plagiarism聽

The workshop was divided into various components, including plagiarism, citations and referencing, time management, and digital citizenship, and the students were eager to get started. Firstly, our students discussed our school’s academic integrity policy and unpacked what it focused on. The students analyzed the forms of plagiarism and what the consequences are. Then, they learned about and practiced how to paraphrase.聽

Finding References聽

After a break, the students delved into citations and referencing research. These techniques are valuable for future research and academic writing. Our middle school students are now better equipped to write quality papers. They are more prepared for their path to university.聽

Digital Citizenship and Social Media聽

Lastly, our students spent their last hour solving scenarios about digital citizenship. Our students learned about keeping their information safe and private, being kind online and on social media, and how to protect themselves from the dangers of social media.聽

By instilling the principles of academic integrity, we are laying the foundation for a future generation of leaders. These students will approach challenges with integrity, contribute ethically to society, and serve as role models for others. Initiatives like these contribute to a brighter and more principled future. History was made on a sunny Monday morning on December 4th at the 扣扣传媒 Chonburi Campus. The Chonburi campus opened its gates to all Wells Primary students from all four campuses in Thailand. The early morning sun and a cool breeze welcomed the buses and vans as the students arrived in their sports team shirts. The air was charged with anticipation as the entire school community came together to celebrate a day filled with sporting events, teamwork and opportunities to make new friends.聽

The Sports Day event was not just a regular sports day; it was a celebration of the unity that defines 扣扣传媒. The students took turns participating in various events such as swimming, hurdles, running relays, cross-country running, and even tricycle racing. One of the highlights was the tug-of-war event as parents and team members were cheering from the sidelines. Our students showed their resilience during the cross-country racing as they raced around the village lake. Equally important, the students had a chance to cool off in the main school building, where various teams threw balls into the basketball nets. The events were planned to showcase our students鈥� potential for future teams and events.聽

This day, Wells School aimed to bring students and families from different campuses together. The sidelines were filled with cheering families, creating a supportive environment that underscored the importance of community involvement. The event served as a testament to the collaborative efforts required to make a new campus truly feel like home. The parents’, teachers’, and students鈥� hard work was pivotal to the success of the day. A special thank you goes to the organizing team at Chonburi campus, including the area coordinators, event coordinators, assistants and coaches for their excellent organizational and planning skills.

The inaugural Cross-Campus Sports Day at 扣扣传媒鈥檚 new campus was not just an athletic event; it was a celebration of unity, community, and the thrilling journey that lies ahead. The students’ dynamic performance ignited the stage with their diverse talents, creating an exciting atmosphere that filled the mall with energy. The band set the tone with a mix of drums and wind instruments, captivating the audience peering down from the railings above. Then, the dance crews took over and brought in more energy with their hip-hop moves and confidence. Finally, the choir harmonized with The Lion Sleeps Tonight and Over the Rainbow, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

The success of cross-collaboration between the 扣扣传媒 campuses was evident, and the performances showcased the students’ diverse talents. Overall, it was a memorable evening that highlighted the school’s commitment to excellence and the arts.

The Chonburi students left early on Friday morning to arrive in time to meet many of the club representatives at the On Nut campus. The representatives talked about their clubs, how they started the clubs and how they support their community. This inspired both the students and teachers to take action in Chonburi and get more involved in the community.聽

After the presentations, the students joined the other middle school students in Ms. Ro鈥檚 Math class. Following the Pre-algebra class, the students had the opportunity to meet the middle school council and engage in some icebreaker activities. The purpose of these activities was to get the students to know each other a bit better and to start building cross-campus connections for future events and endeavors.聽

Then it was time for the highlight of the day. Under the guidance of Mr. Richie, the students jumped into a biosphere project. The students worked together to create a biosphere. The students worked collaboratively to set up their biospheres, to make the biosphere completely self-sustaining. They had to follow instructions and discuss different options of how the biosphere would work.聽

Allowing students to participate in cross-campus activities allows them to share ideas and learn from each other. The students are challenged to think critically as they troubleshoot issues that arise within the biosphere. They learn to analyze data, make observations, and make informed decisions to maintain a balanced ecosystem. Also, cross-campus collaboration ensures a system-wide quality of learning as teachers work together to plan and implement lessons. Our language learners find new ways to use English when working with new friends.聽

The purpose of a day like this goes beyond making a biosphere. It provides a rich educational experience that promotes scientific understanding, environmental consciousness, teamwork, and a sense of community, while also nurturing skills and values that students can carry with them into the future.

Overall, our students made new connections and friends while building their confidence and independence as young adults. They learned new skills and found new ideas to implement at their individual campuses.

This past weekend from September 15th until the 17th, over 20 of Wells鈥� high school students attended the 13th annual ServICE Conference at NIST International School! The ServICE conference is a collaborative, largely student-led event organized by various international schools in Bangkok. The aim of the conference is to inspire, connect, and empower students to create meaningful changes within their communities and surrounding environment.

The conference provided students with opportunities to share and learn from each others鈥� experiences in collaboration with numerous local projects and organizations. This was achieved through various activities, such as the impassioned keynote speeches, 鈥楬ow-To鈥� sessions for students wishing to raise awareness about nationwide NGOs, and most memorably, the ICExperiences where students were able to gain firsthand experience with the missions of nonprofits.

On the first day of the conference, students were welcomed with a lively icebreaker, setting the tone for the day, followed by brief meet & greets from the ICExperiences. Followed by another popular event amongst students: the ICE Fair where organizations sold trinkets and were able to raise awareness and funds for their respective causes. To end the day, 鈥楬ow-To鈥� sessions were introduced as students made their way to the first rounds. Keynote speeches were delivered throughout the day as students reconvened in the auditorium to wind down and listen to their peers鈥� unique experiences.

The second day of the conference followed a similar schedule to the first day; however, it was far more hands-on as new students had familiarized themselves with the events prior. The icebreaker energized students once more as students immersed themselves within their ICExperiences for the majority of the day. Students were placed in diverse groups giving them the chance to network and mingle with other students while simultaneously supporting community organizations, including RoyRak, Shark Guardians, Rescued Glass, Bangkok Soap Opera and Love Wildlife. Needless to say, countless friendships were formed during these workshops and students were able to collaboratively engage in direct service!

The third day was the most hectic, but the most rewarding as the conference came to an end. It was truly bittersweet as our seniors rejoiced over a successful experience, but realized this would be their last conference. Needless to say, the day went by in a flash with most of the day dedicated to 鈥業CE Action Planning鈥� to spark change for the remainder of the school year, carrying on ServICE鈥檚 legacy beyond the conference. The ICE Fair was also brought back for the second time before the closing ceremony, marking the end of the 13th conference. Students bid their newly-made friends goodbye, and promised to cherish the memories made over the past few days and continue inter-school collaboration.

Special acknowledgements to a few of our student leaders: Sana Shibuichi, Rachel Kim, Franny Pandya and Tunn Sayamipuk (Class of 2024) for leading a How-To workshop on repurposing plastic bottles to combat plastic pollution in today鈥檚 world and raise awareness of the importance of environmental sustainability.

Overall, all of our students left the conference feeling inspired and empowered. It was energizing to interact and collaborate with peers from other schools. Wells would like to thank NIST for their exceptional job hosting the conference, as well as the teacher advisors for their ongoing support with this event.

We look forward to seeing what students will do with their inspiration from the conference, and how they will continue to make a positive difference in the school and local community. We are also very excited to announce that next year鈥檚 conference will be hosted by 扣扣传媒 at our new Chonburi campus! We look back at the 13th with fondness, and look forward to the promise of the 14th!

During their Better World Fair, the Grade 2 students showcased their inventions to their families, friends, and fellow students. The fair was a celebration of their learning and a demonstration of their compassion for the communities around them. Each group presented models and diagrams of their creations, AI-generated images that they made in ICT, and information on the budget required.

The inventions presented by the students were diverse and addressed various sustainable development goals. For instance, some students created underwater drones to help monitor sea life, while others invented medicine dispensing robots, composting machines, or water purification tablets. Their inventions not only showed creativity and inventiveness but also reflected their empathy for the world around them.

Furthermore, the Grade 2 students chose to make a difference beyond their fair by collecting donations and raising money for the Save Elephant Foundation in Chiang Mai. Their compassion for wildlife and the environment is a testament to the impact that education can have on creating global citizens who are socially responsible and conscious.

At Wells Bang Na, we are proud of our Grade 2 students’ inventiveness, compassion, and commitment to making the world a better place. They have shown that even the smallest actions can make a difference, and we hope that their inventions inspire others to think creatively and work towards a sustainable future.

The conference provides students with opportunities to share and learn from each other about experiences and successful projects engaging with service learning in their respective schools and communities. The conference provides a stage for various adult and student keynote speakers to share their passions, 鈥淗ow-To鈥� sessions for students wishing to teach others based on their experiences, and networking opportunities to learn from NGOs sharing聽 projects across Thailand. Students are also given the opportunity to collaborate and plan future student-led inter-school service learning projects.

During the conference, students listened to various keynote speakers, engaged in icebreaker activities and games, attended How-To workshops on topics of interest, and collaborated in discussions with students from other schools.

Two of our student leaders in our American Sign Language (ASL) Club, Risa Takahashi and LiHan Sun (Class of 2024) led a How-To workshop to spread awareness about ASL, talk about their club mission and accomplishments, and teach participants the alphabet.

All of the students left the conference feeling enthusiastic and inspired. It was refreshing to interact and collaborate with peers from other schools. Wells would like to thank International School of Bangkok (ISB) for their exceptional job in hosting the first in-person extracurricular event in a long time, as well as the teacher advisors for their engagement and support with this event.聽

We are excited to see how these students will turn their inspiration from the conference into action, and how they will make a positive difference in their school and local community with their bright ideas!

At Wells Bang Na campus, students learn through authentic experiences and collaboration with their peers. Students practiced this by getting the first, third, and fourth graders to work together. They developed a plan to organize some of the donated items for our classes. As they say, one man/woman鈥檚 trash is another person’s treasure; we are making good on that saying. Students had the responsibility of organizing the materials into different bags. They categorized them based on their physical properties.

Being Risk-Takers!

Teachers were happy to see students working so vibrantly with each other. They practiced using the learner profile attributes in order to get along. Teachers saw students demonstrating the learner profile attributes. The learner profile most apparent was risk-taker. It is not easy to work with students from different grades; however, our students worked together well. They also showed mutual respect and made decisions together as a collective unit.聽

Proud Teachers!

As teachers, we could not be more proud of these students. They worked together well. Not only did they formulate their own plans, they also voted for the best plan. Then, they put that plan in action. At Wells Bang Na, we pride ourselves around the IB mission statement of aiming to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people. These students will help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.聽

In the Future

Our students collect the various items left in the donation bin left in front of the school on Mondays. We appreciate the growing support within the parent community and each item that is brought聽 will be useful for learning. Thank you Wells families for your continued support!
